Eva Mendes: After my picture was removed from Facebook, a friend asked if I could post it on Twitter. I accepted because I’m not ashamed to be a woman in a society where women are merely sexual objects harassed every day by men who know nothing about sex or about the importance of a woman.
The picture is an expression of my being and I see the human body as the best artistic representation of it. I took the picture using my camera timer staff. I am inspired by the striking red and black.

CNN: Who is Eva Mendes inside the body portrayed in the photo?
Eva Mendes: I like being different. I love life, art, photography and especially to express my thoughts through writing. That’s why I have studied communications and hope to bring this world also television, so I can expose the truth behind the lies that every day endure in this world. I do not think we should only have children through marriage. It’s all about love.

CNN: How did your parents react? How do you feel you live with your boyfriend without being married?
Eva Mendes: The last time I spoke with them was 24 days ago. They want to support and closer, especially after the publication of the photo, but they accuse Kareem to manipulate. He has been my support system and has forwarded me a text message.
