This wild red lake, located in the southwest corner of Bolivia, is located in a remote mountain region surrounded by a surreal-looking landscape, stripped of vegetation and dotted with rolling hills.
The birdwatchers can be especially interested in taking pictures of the rare species of James flamingos that live on the lake. Temperatures drop up to reach -20 º C, but the intense aroma of yareta, a shrub that is used as fuel, perfumes the cold air.
50 km south of the lake is located the elevation of 4,800 m altitude which is called Morning Sun, where a geyser, has got bubbling pools of mud and expels smelly fumes of sulfur in the fresh mountain air.
