Fortin Toledo was the site of trench warfare developed during the Chaco War. Nowadays it houses a reserve with a small breeding population of Chaco peccary, a relic of the Pleistocene which was believed extinct until its rediscovery in 1975.

The reserve is supported in part by the San Diego Zoo, it is possible to visit this place subject to compliance with the schedule. Next to the reserve we can find a row of abandoned fortifications and a Paraguayan military cemetery.
