Often described as the city located in the most beautiful landscape of Bolivia, this sleepy town is situated at an elevation of almost 2,700 m in a valley dominated by the snow-capped Illampu (6362 m) and Ancohuma (6427 m).

 

The lush valley attracts a steady stream of travelers, who are often seduced by this place. Most visitors embark on the walk of 10 km to the Grotto of St. Peter to see the cave and underground lake.
