Prostitutes in the city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil receive english lessons in anticipation to this year’s Confederations Cup and 2014 FIFA World Soccer Cup to be played in Brazil
Taxi drivers, hotel workers and different service workers are not the only ones who go to school to learn some english in preparation for the World Cup next year, as the Brazilian prostitutes also will do the same to better serve foreign clients during the tournament.
Cida Vieira, president of the Association of Prostitutes of Belo Horizonte, reported this tuesday that 20 prostitues have registered for to take english classes and estimated that at least 300 of the 4,000 members of the group will do sooner or later. The association organizes classes and teachers looking for volunteers.
“I do not think we will have difficulty persuading english teachers give us free classes,” said Vieira. “We already have several psychologists and doctors who help us as volunteers.”
She added that english classes begin in march and take up to eight months.
“It is important that girls can speak english and tell your customers the amount they charge and what excites them,” said Vieira.
“And for the same reasons we are also planning to offer free classes in french and italian,” she added.
Need to remember that spanish and portuguese language are very similars, then would be not necesary take spanish lessons.
“Throughout Brazil, lots of businesses in the private sector are preparing and making their employees better qualified for the World Cup, prostituion is a profession as well,” she said.
Prostitution is legal in Brazil.
The Mineirao Stadium in Belo Horizonte will host three matches of the Confederations Cup and World Soccer Cup in 2014.
The stadium was opened in 1965 and can accommodate 75,783 spectators aprox
