SANTIAGO .- With a record attendance of nearly 400 business men and women in the hotel industry and the
world of investing in different countries, opened the Summit of South American Hotel & Tourism Investment, SAHIC 2011.
The opening was attended by Jacqueline Plass, Undersecretary
of Tourism, Alvaro Castilla, National Director of Sernatur, Arturo Garcia Rosas, President of HVS SAHIC and South America and Chairman Steve Rushmore, President and Founder of HVS Global Hospitality Services.
As indicated by the Undersecretary of Tourism “for us is very important that takes place in Chile SAHIC because the Government has put a special focus on the development of this industry, for which they have raised the following objectives: to transform the tourism industry in the third the country, increasing to 6% its stake in the national GDP, generate 200 000 jobs in a decade and reach 4 million foreign tourists annually visit Chile. ”
During the meeting presentations were made on Panorama Hotel Business World and in this context the situation that this industry records at South American level. According to preliminary data of the UNWTO, World Tourism Organization, in so far in 2011-America is the fastest growing region in the world in terms of international arrivals, tripling the global growth of 4.5% to reach 15% and develop at a rate of 50% over 2010.
This positive scenario that accounts for the consolidation of South America as the new global leader in international tourist arrivals growth was discussed by Garcia Rosas, stating that “a future in the region is waiting for us, our job is to take those opportunities and make Tourism is big business. Everything is in our region, we can not lose the opportunity. ”
