The tiny village of Caraz is located at the east of Chimbote and it is one of the few places in the region that hasn’t been ravaged by earthquakes or by landslides.

It has a main square, hotels and cheap restaurants. In the area there are routes that run through the surrounding hills. In Caraz ends the pedestrian route that goes from Llanganuco to Santa Cruz, and is the starting point for excursions by road to the beautiful Paron Lake and the Plato canyon.
