The site of Sechin, located at 50 km south of Chimbote, is one of the oldest in Peru (dated around 1500 BC) and the most significant and best preserved of the coast. Its appeal lies in the exterior walls of the main temple, covered with reliefs of ghoulish warriors who are gutting their prisoners.
