The Yarinacocha lake has got a horseshoe-shaped and it lies 10 km north-east of Pucallpa in the Amazon basin. It was part of the Ucayali river, but today is surrounded by land, except for a small canal that joins the river during the rainy season.

The most prominent settlements are in Puerto Callao, where it is possible to find some accommodations, bars, restaurants and charter boats for excursions.
It is possible to visit the Shipibo Indian villages, buy handicrafts, take a canoe or wildlife watching, both in the lake and its surroundings there are freshwater dolphins.
